Border Patrol feature photos

So the Temecula Valley News put me in a car on several occasions with officers from the local Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Patrol office and allowed me to photograph some stops.

This car was stopped by the CHP after blowing thru the infamous Temecula Immigration checkpoint at 90 plus mph. We, as in myself and Agent Visconti, had just walked out of the checkpoint offices when a CHP unit pulled up and told us that they were requesting backup on a stop at 79S and the I15 - less than a mile away. When we came up on scene, CHP had the driver out, and Agent Visconti and his dog went to the car, where the dog hit upon the fact that someone was in the backseat with a blanket over them - that individual was removed and found to be a teenage boy. When the dog was exiting the vehicle however, he alerted to the trunk. Covering the trunk, guns drawn, all three of us on scene were a bit shocked to find four more people in the trunk, on a day when temps were approaching 95 degrees. All were taken into custody.

Our first "stop" of the day...

Agents stop'd this driver in a resedential area near Pechanga. Upon pulling over the car, she claimed to be house hunting. Further interrogation on scene led her to reveal that she was smuggling in the two passengers in the rear seat, and she claimed to have done this over 30 times. All three were taken into custody, and the car impounded.

My thanks to the Temecula office of the Border Patrol.

This is priceless.........

It's stuff like this that makes me worry for the next generation...From a comment made on andrewsullivan.com

Is a six-year old socialist somehow inherently more absurd than a six-year old Christian or a six-year old Muslim? We think nothing of ascribing religious beliefs to (or imposing religious beliefs on, if you prefer) our youngest children, or sending them to schools for -- again, depending on your perspective -- spiritual enlightenment or religious indoctrination. But a six-year old is no more able to make a free choice about his or her religious beliefs than about his or her political beliefs. So why mock someone for sending a child to "Socialist Sunday School" and let them off the hook for sending a child to religious Sunday school? Surely both are simply examples of parents attempting to pass along their own worldview to their children, to fix their beliefs before they are old enough to really think them through. The only real difference as far as I can see (and this is a perception unsupported by any hard numbers) is that kids are far more likely to change their political views as they mature than they are to reject their religious schooling?

Sigh - ok, now I'm going to post stupid political moves here

I mean, I have to. With stuff like this, how can I not comment. I mean this is PRICELESS. Just remember while you read this, people voted for this guy..

WHITE HOUSE — Two aldermen here say league and tournament games should be banned in the municipal park on Sunday mornings for religious reasons.

Alderman Darrell Leftwich wants organized games in White House Municipal Park to be restricted to the 1-4:30 p.m. period on Sundays.

"I am concerned that we are not sending the right message to the community by having tournaments and league play during worship hours," Leftwich said.

Leftwich said that he drove by the park last Sunday morning on his way to church and saw that it was full of people attending a soccer tournament.

He attends services at Temple Baptist Church in White House.

Leftwich said that while the tournament is good for White House, it could have been held on a more suitable day.

"God our Father intended the seventh day to be one of rest and worship," Leftwich said during a recent city board meeting.

"At my church, several people brought up the tournament. In their opinion and mine, I feel like we should establish new hours for our parks."

During the meeting, Leftwich asked City Administrator Angie Carrier to draft the ordinance restricting league and tournament play.

Alderman Mike Arnold agreed with Leftwich and added that the park was in his ward of the city. He said he had received several calls from people in response to the tournament being held on a Sunday.

Alderman Farris Bibb Jr. said the city should look into the matter further.

"With all due respect to Alderman Leftwich, the seventh day of the week is Saturday," Bibb said.

Well, I'm hoping it will pick up interesting-wise soon

So not much happening in the old IE - the usual Friday night football and such, and more Katrina relief events. In any case, next week should be MUCH more interesting...theather opening with Mellisa Mancester (not that I'm a fan but), Billy Idol (yes, I'm a huge fan), Journey and all the usual stuff. So it must get better soon..it must. Please...

Temecula Valley Film Festival

From the Temecula Valley Film Festival Awards. This year is the 11th annual gala, and I covered the red carpet entrance of Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, as well as the Award show itself. It's was held this year at Pechanga's Showroom and had all manner of stars, celebrities and filmly people crawling around.

The painfully sexy Natasha Henstridge got a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Festival.

Ricky Schroder (of NYPD Blue and Silver Spoons fame) was on hand as well.

Ok, so it's not even been close

To being updated everday. Oh well, get over it :)

Ok, so seriously, I've meant to update it every day but life is life and life tends to happen. Instead, I'll make a massive jumbo super post with a couple pictures from this weekends travels..

So, one paper I freelance for has a Sports Gallery page- basically a page where we can put sports that we don't do a feature on each week. It can vary from one game to three games and a couple pictures of each. We've been wanting to shoot youth football and caught a couple Temecula PopWarner practices preseason, but the opportunity presented itself to shoot a Murrieta PopWarner PeeWee game - the Murrieta Grayhawks vs the Escondido Silverhawks. Murrieta put up a admirable effort but was not enough to stop the Escondido offense.
